Smith & Wesson Model 48 Revolver
The SW Model 48 is a four-screw, black-finished revolver with a blue finish. The first production run of the revolvers was from May to August 1959. The pistol was only offered in one barrel length and was available in either four or six inches. The internal lock was not a problem, and the bullet fired from both ends of the barrel. The pinned barrel was removed in 1982, and the Model was made without a dash.
The introduction of the model was in May 1959. It was offered with four, six, and eight-three-eight inch barrels, with the six-inch barrel being the most popular. The Masterpiece models featured a raised barrel rib, a micro-adjustable rear sight, and a double latch cylinder. The grips are checker walnut, and the metalwork is black. The S&W Model 48 is considered a very good revolver for hunting.

The barrel is a remarkably smooth, and true-to-frame design. The barrel is 0.715 inches in diameter at the frame and 0.593 inches at the muzzle. To protect the bore, it was also a crown. Fit the cylinder with a double-cylinder latch and rotate counterclockwise out of the frame. Once closed, the ejector rod covers the barrel.
The Model 48 is still manufactured today and available. The company has changed ownership a few times since the 1950s, and its production has declined. While the gun’s performance has improved, the price and feeding are a bit high. It is still a good firearm, but it has a very high price. It is more expensive than modern revolvers, and it is also very loud.
The S&W Model 48 is a great choice for everyday carry, especially for law enforcement. The gun has a durable metal frame and a six-round cylinder. The S&W Model 48 has many modifications available. Besides a leather holster, you can also find sights and lasers for the Model. The stainless steel version has a 6″ barrel. The S&W Model 48 is a great choice for any situation.
